Indian Crocus  (Pleione)

Indian Crocus (Pleione) is a genus of orchids that grows best in half shade in humus-rich, moist soil as long as it drains well. Unfortunately, Indian Crocus is not fully hardy with us, so best is to plant it in a large pot. Use a mix of peat, sand, loam and grit. You can then dig the pot into the garden in spring and retrieve it before the winter. Do not cut back the foliage of Indian Crocus in autumn. It can take a few years before Indian Crocus starts flowering properly.
