General information about Flag (Iris):
Flag (Iris) is a large genus split into upright rhizomatous or bulbous perennials. Rhizomatous Flag are the more common ones used in the garden. Flag are best known for their characteristic flowers, available in all sorts of colours. There is a species available for every position or soil type. The taller species for in the border fall under the species German Iris (Iris germanica) and Siberian Iris (Iris sibirica). The low species for dry to normal soil in the rockery come under Dwarf Iris (Iris pumila). For in moist to wet soil near a pond you could use Japanese Iris (Iris ensata) and Yellow Flag (Iris pseudacorus).
