Jacob's Rod

Jacob's Rod  (Asphodeline)

Jacob's Rod (Asphodeline) has thick fleshy roots from which blue-green grass-like foliage grows. It has fragrant, star-shaped yellow flowers on stiff spikes in late summer, and decorative pea-like seed pods. Jacob's Rod is a fully hardy plant for a sunny position and well-draining soil. For a nice 'ton sur ton' (in matching tones) effect, plant Jacob's Rod in a bed of low yellow flowering Cinquefoils (Potentilla).
