General information about Dead Nettle (Lamium):The genus Dead Nettle (Lamium) is closely related to the genus Yellow Archangel (Lamiastrum). The latter is especially suited as ground cover because of its long runners. The plants of the genus Dead Nettle stay more compact and form a dense mat. This makes them very suited in the front of a (half) shadow border. A bit more sun is ok as long as the soil is moist. The foliage of Dead Nettle also has a nice colouring, shades of silver and yellow. The 'lip flowers' are also nice and colours vary between purple, pink or white. Dead Nettle combines well with Tongue Fern (Asplenium scolopendrium), Bleeding Heart (Dicentra), Barrenwort (Epimedium) and Hosta (Hosta).Spotted Dead Nettle - Lamium maculatum
