Leonotis

Leonotis - Lion's Ear

Leonotis is an eye-catcher first class. The mostly orange flowers are in broad whorls around the stems. Leonotis comes from southern Africa and is not hardy in our climate. Overwinter the plants indoors in a frost-free place. Then water moderately. Plant Leonotis in the garden or in a large pot in the spring. Provide a spot in full sun and plenty of water and fertilizer. Leonotis is attractive to insects. | A tea can be made from the dried leaves and flowers of Leonotis, which gives a calming and slightly euphoric effect. The dried parts can also be smoked (Wild Dagga). The effect is somewhat like cannabis, but much milder.
