Leontopodium

Leontopodium - Edelweiss

Leontopodium we all know better as Edelweiss. Leontopodium is a plant from mountainous areas which likes a spot in the full sun, preferably in a chalky, poor soil. The soil may be normally moist as long as it drains well. Unfortunately, Leontopodium is often collected from the wild which is illegal and unnecessary as there are plenty of nurseries that grow it. No rockery is complete without this plant. Good neighbour plants for Leontopodium are Festuca and Helianthemum.
