Libertia

Libertia - New Zealand Iris

Libertia belongs to the Iris family. The plant has tall slender leaves with white flowers on strong stems. Libertia looks good as a solitary plant surrounded by low ground covering plants such as Acaena. Also, in a modern garden with gravel or in a large pot they look good. The advantage of a pot is that you can bring that inside in winter as Libertia is not fully hardy in our climate. If you have planted them in the garden, make sure to cover Libertia with a pack of leaves in winter. Libertia likes a sheltered position in the sun in normal soil.
