Ligusticum - Scotch Lovage

Ligusticum is an umbel forming plant which can be found in the wild along the coast of Scotland. Ligusticum is related to Levisticum but does not grow anywhere as large. Therefore Ligusticum is very suited to an herb garden in a not too large garden. It has a light 'Maggi' taste. Ligusticum is a strong and easy plant which will grow in any garden soil as long as fertile enough. Give Ligusticum a hand full of compost in the spring. Apart from in the herb garden Ligusticum is also good in the border as they are not many umbel flowering plants in this small shape. Ligusticum looks good next to yellow/green and blue neighbour plants.
