General information about Lip Fern (Cheilanthes):Lip Fern (Cheilanthes) is a large genus of mostly small ferns from dry and warm habitats. The species that are hardy with us do not like a wet soil, especially in winter. Lip Fern is one of few ferns that can be planted in the sun. In a dry spell, the grey-green small leaves will curl op to limit evaporation. Lip Fern is a very useful plant in the rockery, together with, for example, Common Polypody (Polypodium vulgare).Hairy Lip Fern - Cheilanthes lanosa
