General information about Lobelia (Lobelia):
Lobelia (Lobelia) is mainly known as the small bright blue annual for in hanging baskets, but there are also some perennial varieties with bright colours. Lobelia prefers a moist soil in a sunny to lightly shaded location. In winter, most varieties will welcome a covering of leaves as frost protection. The species 'siphilitica' is the hardiest. When Lobelia's planted in a mix of colours in a large pot they are a real eye-catcher for on the patio. When used in the border, Lobelia combines well with Baneberry (Actaea), Japanese Iris (Iris ensata) and Rodgers Flower (Rodgersia).
