General information about Mallow (Malva):Mallow (Malva) is a large genus of bi- and perennial plants. The flowers of Mallow resemble those of Tree Mallow but on the whole they are somewhat smaller. Mallow likes a spot in the sun in well-draining soil. Most species of Mallow really do not like wet winters. The chances of survival are greatly increased if you cut the plant well back after flowering. Mallow will then put its energy into forming new shoots instead of making seed. If you do allow it to produce seed it will often self-seed. Nice neighbour plants for Mallow are Woodland Sage (Salvia nemorosa), Peach-Leaved Bellflower (Campanula persicifolia) and pale-yellow Yarrow (Achillea).Common Mallow - Malva sylvestris ssp. mauritanica
