Marram Grass

Marram Grass  (Ammophila)

Marram Grass (Ammophila) is a grass known for its use along the coast to help stabilize sand dunes. Mostly the species 'arenaria' is used for this purpose as it produces long rhizomes. The species 'breviligulata' is more clump forming and therefore better for in a border. Marram Grass has green-grey leaves with nice yellow-brown flower stems. Marram Grass will do well in salty winds and dry, very sandy ground.
