General information about Maiden Grass (Miscanthus):
Maiden Grass (Miscanthus) is one of the most well-known ornamental grasses. They are clump forming, reasonably fast-growing plants which often also display nice autumn colours. The height of Maiden Grass varies from knee-height to over 2 meters. Especially nice are the varieties with striped or mottled leaves. Maiden Grass can be used as a solitary plant or in groups. Maiden Grass prefers a spot in the sun in normal soil, although some shade does not harm it either. It flowers in late summer and is quite spectacular. When gone over, the flower stems still give you a nice display over winter. Some varieties of Maiden Grass will only flower after a nice warm summer. Do not cut Maiden Grass back until spring, as soon as the young shoots are visible. Maiden Grass is a very versatile grass that should be in every garden.
