General information about Evening Primrose (Oenothera):
Evening Primrose (Oenothera) is a genus of bi- and perennial plants. The latter group usually grows much lower. Yellow is the most common colour but you can also get pink or white species. Plants from the variety 'fruticosa' often have red flower buds and red foliage in spring. Evening Primrose likes a sunny position in well-draining soil which may be quite dry and poor. There are a few species of Evening Primrose that flower in the evening and at night. These are then visited by moths. Evening Primrose is good for in the rockery or in the first line of the border.
