General information about Royal Fern (Osmunda):
Royal Fern (Osmunda) is a genus of stately deciduous ferns for in humus rich soil. Royal Fern likes a spot in the shade or half shade. They will do in the sun as long as the soil is always moist to wet. Royal Fern soon form separate narrow leaves which carry the spores. They are very long living plants which look better year after year. Royal Fern looks best planted as a specimen. Good under planting is with Bugle (Ajuga) and Dead Nettle (Lamium).
