Peucedanum

Peucedanum - Masterwort

Peucedanum is a genus of umbel forming perennials. They like a normal to moist spot in slight alkaline, fertile soil. Shade is tolerated quite well by Peucedanum and this does enhance the flowers. If Peucedanum self-seeds too much, cut away the flower stem when they have gone over. This will also help future growth of the plant. It may take a few years for Peucedanum to establish properly. They attract a lot of insects and look good in the border or in a natural garden. Good neighbours for Peucedanum are Aconitum and Geranium.
