Phalaris

Phalaris - Canary Grass

Phalaris is a genus of grasses with reed like leaves. The foliage sometimes is used to make Ayahuasca, a psychedelic thee. Phalaris will grow in most soils, as long as not too dry. The plant likes sun to half shade. If happy, Phalaris can sometimes spread too much and become invasive. A root barrier will prevent this. If the leaves go brown, for instance after a period if drought, just cut Phalaris right back. It will soon form new leaves again. In a natural planting, Phalaris looks good combined with Lysimachia and Persicaria.
