Nearly all Phloxs have a scent, but Blue Phlox (Phlox divaricate) is nicest. The tall varieties are good in the border. These Border Phloxs will die back over winter. Good partners are Day Lily (Hemerocallis), Helen's Flower (Helenium), Beebalm (Monarda), Fountain Grass (Pennisetum) and Culver's Root (Veronicastrum). Some varieties of Border Phlox are susceptible to mildew. Ensure there is plenty of space and air around the plants.
