General information about Balloon Flower (Platycodon):
Balloon Flower (Platycodon) is a hardy perennial for in the sun or half shade in just about any soil. The un-opened flowers of Balloon Flower look like a balloon, which explains its name. It may take some time for them to properly establish themselves and it is better not to trans plant them again. Balloon Flower is a late starter in spring. Do not plant them between other plants that will already have grown to such a size that they might suffocate your Balloon Flower. They are also suitable plants for planting in coastal regions, together with maybe Thrift (Armeria).
