General information about Polypody (Polypodium):Polypody (Polypodium) is a genus of usually small ferns with lobed, sometimes crested leaves. The new leaves do not form until after the summer and keep doing so throughout the winter, so they are evergreen. They will have a rest period in summer. Polypody is a strong fern for in the sun or half shade in dry to normal soil. Plenty of humus in the soil will ensure plenty of foliage. Polypody spreads steadily by means of underground creeping rhizomes and will slowly form a mat. Polypody combines nicely with Barrenwort (Epimedium) and striped Japanese Sedge (Carex morrowii).Common Polypody - Polypodium vulgare
