Pteridophyllum

Pteridophyllum - Woodland Poppy

Pteridophyllum is a very small plant genus, family of the Papaver. The genus has only 1 species; Pteridophyllum racemosum, which occurs in the wild in Japan. The stems with pendulous white flowers stand out nicely above the fern-like leaves. Pteridophyllum likes a cool spot in (partial) shade. The soil may be normal to slightly moist. Pteridophyllum does not thrive well on calcareous soil. Pteridophyllum is fairly hardy, but covering the plants with a layer of fallen leaves in the autumn does no harm.
