General information about Early-flowering Borage (Trachystemon):Early-flowering Borage (Trachystemon) is a plant with rough leaves and nice flowers which unfortunately are not very noticeable. Early-flowering Borage will grow just about anywhere, and once established it will accept quite dry soil. It is a good ground cover for in difficult locations. They do like a hand full of compost in spring. If, after a prolonged drought, the foliage of Early-flowering Borage does not look its best anymore, just cut it away. Within no time the plant will through up nice fresh shoots again. If you are covering a large area with Early-flowering Borage, the odd large fern Ostrich Fern (Matteuccia) in between, looks great.Oriental Borage - Trachystemon orientalis
