Reiherschnabel

Reiherschnabel  (Erodium)

General information about Heron's Bill (Erodium):
Heron's Bill (Erodium) is closely related to Cranesbill (Geranium) and is found in the wild mainly around the Mediterranean. With us they are not fully hardy and wet feet in the winter will be fatal. Therefore, Heron's Bill needs a well-draining position in full sun. They flower for a long period, not only suited to the rockery but also nice in a pot on the patio. Best is to dig up Heron's Bill every few years and split the plants up. When planting again, make sure the crown is just sitting above ground level. Heron's Bill look good planted next to grey foliaged plants such as Mugwort (Artemisia) (low species) and Pearly Everlasting (Anaphalis).
