General information about Rue (Ruta):
Rue (Ruta) is a winter green (half) shrub with blue/green foliage which has a distinct scent. Rue contains certain substances to which some people are allergic, especially in warm weather. Be aware. Rue is a plant for in full sunshine in well-draining soil, preferably with some lime. After flowering, cutting back a little will maintain a nice, bush plant. If Rue gets a bit woody after a few years, cut it well back in spring. Rue looks good when combined with Woodland Sage (Salvia nemorosa) or Pincushion Flower (Scabiosa).
