Sagina

Sagina - Pearlwort

Sagina is one of the lowest growing ground covers for in the garden. It is very nice to use Sagina on patio's and paths with wide gaps between the slabs where it will nicely soften the edges. Also Sagina is nice in a Japanese garden where it can be used as a substitute to moss. Sagina wants a well-draining soil in the sun or half shade. If in the full sun, make sure the soil is moist enough. In time, Sagina will form dense mats. If these become too high, just press them down. For a daring combination you could always plant a clump of Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Niger' between Sagina.
