Scorpionweed (Phacelia)

Scorpionweed (Phacelia) is a genus of plants mainly from North and South America. There are annual, bi-annual and perennial species. Scorpionweed is mainly known for its strong attraction to bees. Some species are being grown as a green manure. The only species really suited to the garden is Silky Phacelia (Phacelia sericea). This species has unusual flowers that sit above grey/green foliage and tends to stay alive for a few years. Scorpionweed likes a spot in the sun in normal, moist soil. It does not like wet feet in the winter.
