Snake's Head Iris  (Hermodactylus)

Snake's Head Iris (Hermodactylus) is a genus of only one species, (Hermodactylus tuberosus). These plants look like an Flag (Iris) and have a very unusual colour. Snake's Head Iris is perfectly hardy but to ensure good flowering it has to be planted in an as warm as possible spot in quite dry and alkaline soil. The flowers of Snake's Head Iris have a nice scent.
