Spotted Widow's Tears

Spotted Widow's Tears  (Tinantia)

Spotted Widow’s Tears (Tinantia) is related to Spiderwort (Tradescantia), but the flowers are smaller. In addition to the flowers, Spotted Widow’s Tears also has attractive dark foliage with speckles. Spotted Widow’s Tears does not flower en masse, but does flower over a long period, often until the first frost. Spotted Widow’s Tears is a ground cover for (semi) shade. The soil type doesn't matter that much. In a spot that is not too dry, Tinantia will self-seed and provide dense vegetation.
