Spurflower

Spurflower  (Plectranthus)

Spurflower (Plectranthus) is a large genus of plants which are mainly used for their nice leaves. Normally, Spurflower will not survive any frost and therefore are mainly kept as annuals or planted in a pot and brought inside over the winter. If this is the case, cut the plant back in spring, add some fresh compost and sit them outside again. Spurflower likes a spot in the (half)shade in fertile and moist soil. A colourful combination can be achieved when combined with Coral Bells (Heuchera) with yellow/green or orange leaves. The flowers of Spurflower attract many insects.
