Stellaria

Stellaria - Stitchwort

Stellaria is a genus of plants from the Carnation family. Just about all have lying stems and white flowers. There are only a few species of Stellaria suitable for in the garden. Stellaria is best for in the woodland garden or in hedges, in light to half shade. The soil may be dry to normal. A nice combination is with Hosta or Brunnera. Also in troughs on the balcony Stellaria does well and will hang nicely over the edges. Then you could plant Stellaria together with Campanula poscharskyana or Geranium sanguineum.
