General information about Thyme (Thymus):Thyme (Thymus) is a genus of creeping perennials with scented leaves. They form dense mats which occasionally could be walked upon. Thyme is available with different types of leaves, scent, flower colour and shape. They are plants which are good for in the rockery, on walls or just 'appeared' in a path. They attract lots of insects. Thyme is ever green and likes a dry and sunny position. You could cut them back slightly in spring, after flowering. This will help to keep them nice and compact. Thyme also looks nice in a pot or trough on the patio or balcony, planted with other herbs, such as Chives (Allium schoenoprasum), Wild Oregano (Origanum vulgare), Rosemary (Rosmarinus), Mint (Mentha), Culinary Sage (Salvia officinalis) and Balm (Melissa). Planted up with these, you have a good supply for in the kitchen.Breckland Thyme - Thymus serpyllum 'Magic Carpet'
