Tinantia - Spotted Widow's Tears

Tinantia is related to the Tradescantia (Spiderwort), but the flowers are smaller. In addition to the flowers, Tinantia also has attractive dark foliage with speckles. Tinantia does not flower en masse, but does flower over a long period, often until the first frost. Tinantia is a ground cover for (semi) shade. The soil type doesn't matter that much. In a spot that is not too dry, Tinantia will self-seed and provide dense vegetation.
