Upright Wild Ginger  (Saruma)

Upright Wild Ginger (Saruma) has not long been in cultivation and is still relatively unknown. This is a shame as Upright Wild Ginger has a lot of good characteristics. The soft yellow flowers of Upright Wild Ginger sit on top of nice, slight hairy leaves. Also, this flower colour is more than welcome in a shady spot. It does not flower in an abundance but it does produce flowers for a long period. The new leaves appear first in a grey/brown colour. Good neighbour plants for Upright Wild Ginger are dark leaved Baneberry (Actaea) and ferns with fine lobed leaves.
