Urginea

Urginea - Sea Onion

Urginea is a bulbous plant with sturdy leaves and long flowering spikes that attract many insects. The best-known species is Urginea maritima, it grows mainly along the coasts of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean on dry hills and rocky areas. Urginea does not tolerate too much water, provide a well-drained soil, preferably in full sun. Because Urginea is not hardy in our climate, it is best to keep them in a spacious pot which is placed inside in the winter. It can take a few years before the Urginea bulb is big enough to start flowering.
