General information about Crownbeard (Verbesina):Crownbeards (Verbesina) are large, strong plants from the family of composites. They flower late in the season and therefore are popular with bee keepers. Crownbeard will grow just about anywhere in the garden, but prefers a spot in the sun and normal soil. Because of its strong build Crownbeard can be used a s a plant to support other weaker ones. Also nice is to let Clematis (heracleifolia or integrifolia) grow through it. Crownbeard combines well with other large plants such as Meadow Rue (Thalictrum), Culver's Root (Veronicastrum)s and Mountain Fleece (Persicaria amplexicaulis).Wingstem - Verbesina alternifolia
