Garlic Cress

Garlic Cress  (Peltaria)

Garlic Cress is an unknown plant genus with very few species. A few species are suitable for use in the garden. Both for the herb garden and the ornamental garden. The flowers and leaves of Garlic Cress can be used in salads. The leaves taste like mustard and garlic and are sometimes reddish-brown. Garlic Cress’ flowering consists of numerous small white flowers that attract many insects. Garlic Cress retains its leaves in winter. After flowering, the old leaves can be cut away, after which the plant will grow fresh new leaves. If necessary, give a gift of nutrition after cutting away. Garlic Cress prefers a sunny or semi-shaded spot in normal to moist soil with sufficient nutrition. Acidic soil is not well tolerated. If necessary, add some lime to the soil. Where Garlic Cress feels at home, the plant gradually spreads.
